Description
Growing and stable company has an immediate need for a SQL Server Developer for a long-term, highly stable contract. In this role, you will provide development support for the finance department as we seek to develop a customized billing solution that will support our very diverse and demanding customer base. This effort is being done in conjunction with the development of a new operating system that will replace two existing operational systems and the development of an internal Datawarehouse. The individual in this role must be a team player; creative and patient, able to manage multiple projects concurrently and have the ability to communicate complex concepts in easy to understand terms.
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop SQL Server based solutions for finance department that will enhance the speed and accuracy of invoice generation, sales commission and Business Intelligence reporting.
- Will serve as finance department's IT representative and will coordinate with both internal and external IT resources and project teams that are currently developing the new operating system and Datawarehouse.
- Facilitate data conversion and migration from existing applications. Automate data conversion wherever possible from manually prepared spreadsheets and existing applications into new applications.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve performance issues with existing Access and SQL databases and make recommendations on the best way to migrate their functionality into the new applications.
- Provide guidance to team members who also work with SQL to expand their functionality and analytical capabilities.
- Experienced with data analysis and consolidating disparate data sets into usable data.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2005 and 2008).
- Fundamental knowledge of SQL Server architecture and relational database concepts.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server tools, including use of Query Analyzer, SSMS, SSRS, and scheduled jobs.
- Excellent SQL Server skills, stored procedures, functions, queries, and triggers.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office products - Access, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook a must; technologically savvy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Research, analysis, project planning and implementation skills.
- Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans.
Preferences:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Financial services is a plus.
