Job Description
Manufacturing engineer required to support the operations team in the Armament Production Facility. Reporting into the Manufacturing Engineering manager, you will work alongside the relevant operations area manager and team leader supporting the work area through actions highlighted via either the 4M and/or the SQDCP process.

The manufacturing engineer will be required to keep his area under configuration control through manufacturing instructions, support and encourage the emphasis on customer and quality focus, actively participate and contribute to any design for manufacture activity and lead the relevant team in developing and bringing in to the company new technology and best practise.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety requirements in the area are met through risk assessment and Start safe program.
  • Establish a robust manufacturing process.
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation required for product manufacture.
  • Design and implement cost-effective tooling and/or equipment to help improve safety, reliability and throughput.
  • Work with engineering and other departments to produce cost estimates for new Projects
  • Action Non- conformance reports on SAP when required.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives through 5c audits
  • Implement the latest technology software and manufacturing applications to support both the MED department and manufacturing operations.
  • Encourage lean manufacturing techniques
  • Purchase of tooling and capital equipment
  • Evaluate and develop manufacturing process flows, facility layout concepts

Key Skills/Experience

  • The successful candidate will need to have some experience in machining and assembly techniques ideally with some knowledge of production planning.
  • Previous experience in a production engineering environment is required.
  • Good communication, presentation and IT skills needed.
