Position Description:
Participate in requirements gathering efforts. Design and document web application architecture. Work effectively with Web Developers, Java Developers, and other project staff to successfully implement web applications. Assist Project Manager with developing realistic project work-plans. Comply with project standards and methodologies. Experience Level: 10+ Years. Skill Set: Strong object-oriented design experience. Experience with relational databases. Strong commitment to developing quality software. Good communication and team collaboration skills. Good multi-tasking skills.
Top 3-5 required skills:
1. Extensive Technical Breadth, with Technical Depth in One or a Few Disciplines - specifically in the Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) space, preferably with RSA Archer and or Fraud Waste & Abuse Compliance (FWAC) - preferably with FICO and/or SAS.
An IT architect should possess an extensive technical breadth through experience in the IT industry. This breadth should be in areas of application development and deployment, and in the areas of creation and maintenance of the infrastructure to support the complex application environment. Current IT environments are heterogeneous by nature, and the experienced IT architect will have skills across multiple platforms, including distributed systems and traditional Mainframe environments. IT architects will have, as a result of their careers, skills in at least one discipline that is considered to be at the level of a subject matter expert.
2. Skills and Experience in Producing Designs
An IT architect must be proficient in the techniques that go into producing designs of complex IT systems, including requirements discovery and analysis, formulation of solution context, identification of solution alternatives and their assessment, technology selection, and design configuration.
3. Full Project Scope Experience
While the IT architect is responsible for design and hand-off of the project to implementors, it is vital that s/he have experience with all aspects of a project from design through development, testing, implementation, and production. This scope of experience will serve to keep IT architects grounded in the notion of fitness-for-purpose and the practical nature of system implementation. The impact of full project scope experience should lead the IT architect to make better design decisions, and better inform the trade-offs made in those decisions.
Top 3-5 daily responsibilities:
- Actively participate with the project teams on the following deliverables:
- GRC architecture design to (environment to include development, test and production systems)
- GRC implementation plan
- Regular review of project plan for accuracy based on technical plan
- Co-lead all technical discussions
- System documentation - understand and interpret requirements
- Lead in the technical architecture design and implementation activities of a large area of functional processing
- Researching, evaluating and proposing new technologies & tools to achieve corporate & IT objectives and strategies
Type of background you are looking for:
- Have 7+ years experience with technical analysis and design
- Have strong knowledge of relevant technologies including Java-based development tools and/or .NET development tools
- Experience in providing leadership and hands-on expertise on technical platform and solution architecture issues
