Computer People are recruiting on behalf of a Blue Chip Client for a UNIX Technician to be based on-site in Manchester for 3 months initially.

Short Description:
To plan and coordinate maintenance upgrades for the LBG HP infrastructure estate
Complete Description:
Define plans for ensuring the supporting UNIX infrastructure is maintained to supported levels across all UNIX platforms, HP, Sun and IBM
* Responsible for ensuring service on all of the Client infrastructure is available at all times, that incidents are resolved quickly, problems resolved in conjunction with Service Management and suppliers, and changes implemented successfully with full consideration for the live service operations.
* External Team Liaison/Engagement and Stakeholder Management
* Lead the technical maintenance work streams and work with stakeholders to agree long term maintenance upgrade plans
* Draws on experience of others to resolve problems within own group or project, thereby operating as a trouble-shooter within own area
* Provides input to thought leadership reports/papers in own field of knowledge, conducts research and analysis and provides technical advice and guidance to peers or more junior staff
* Completes complex and non-standard assigned tasks, eg hardware/software upgrades, within timescales, and completing all required documentation to a high standard of quality
* Involved in ongoing maintenance of effective client service relationship in one area of the business, by acting as first point of contact for client representatives
* Uses interpretative judgement to provide workable solutions to abstractly defined business issues/problems with minimum referral to supervisor
* Ensure compliance with the appropriate policies and standards in area of specialism, to maintain high quality process and organisational management practice.
