Duration: 100 days + 1 year extension.

The Government of the Northwest Territories, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Wildlife Division in Yellowknife, NT are requesting tenders for the services from qualified vendors to submit a tender for Adding Records to Database of Plant Specimens as per the description below.

Term: October 14, 2011 to March 31, 2012, with the option to be extended for an additional year, upon the decision of the project manager.

The costs of travel are not be included

Take photograph of 2000 plant specimens (high res, Jpg)

Database label information on plants specimens from the Northwest Territories that are found in the collection at the University of

Alberta Vascular Plant Herbarium (ALTA).

Enter label information in excel database following the format provided in the attached as Appendix A

NWT Virtual Herbarium Man Report 2008 in the attached as Appendix B

Each photo will be uploaded and named as using this standard

Plantfamilyname_UA_date_ acquisitionnumber (eg, Primulaceae_UA_ CD-3)

Retrieve geographical coordinates of NWT specimens when this information is not found on the specimen labels.

Verify scientific name using appropriate taxonomic tools in order to ensure consistency.

Enter the information in a MIMSY XG database, as part of the ALTA collection database.

Contact ALTA collection for information on which families remains to be databased.

Write a report on findings and comments
