Our client, a leading retail bank, currently seeks a Senior Governance Manager, to be based in their London office.
The Senior Governance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the team operates within an effective and robust governance policy and procedure framework to protect the business and fulfil regulatory and corporate governance obligations.
The Senior Governance Manager will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Head of Governance and Control/Leadership in the effective management of the control environment
- Accountable for the monthly risk and control reporting
- Managing the planning and production of the quarterly materials
- Liaising with senior executives across Centre Functions
- Supporting the induction of Senior Executive members and the annual self assessment
- Managing and maintaining oversight to compliance with Group Policy
- Reviewing and assessing conformance to governance framework, recommending and supporting remedial action where appropriate
- Subject Matter Expert who leads the analysis and review of governance and control briefing material
- Supporting Group Governance and Control Committee membership
- Absa Governance Audit Control Committee attendance and Monthly meetings with the Head of Internal Audit
- Liaising with senior governance and operational risk leadership and senior stakeholders
As such, the successful Senior Governance Manager will have the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience in working with and effectively influencing executive level stakeholders
- Deep understanding of the business and its key drivers, in particular Governance, Control, Risk and Compliance
- Understanding of the entire Group and its supporting structures and business
- Understanding of relevant regulatory environment and current regulatory issues and the Bank's Governance Compliance and Risk policies
- A strong commercial awareness
- Programme management experience
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
- Excellent Relationship Management skills
- Strong team player
- Strong leadership skills with previous leadership experience at a senior level
