My Rail Client based in London is currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor.

The role involves as follows:

To assist in the planning, co-ordination and performance of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental activities required by company standards, the customer and legislative bodies, from project tender through to post-commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out Health and Safety and Environment activities in support of existing contracts. Develop Health and Safety and Environment plans for bids and proposals. Provide Health and Safety and Environmental input at project meetings. Perform audits and monitor Health and Safety and Environment management practices on projects against ISO14001, OHSAS 18001 and objectives and targets. Provide advice and guidance on good Health and Safety and Environment management practice to the Department. Liaise with internal departments, sub-contractors and customers on Health and Safety and Environment matters. Carrying out investigations into non-compliances to find root causes and to recommend the most effective corrective actions. Provide input to and attend project progress meetings with the customer. Act as a guide during customer project audits. Provide on site EHS support to meet project requirements.

Essential Requirements:

Extensive experience within Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (preferably gained in a railway environment) with NEBOSH/BSC or similar qualifications. Detailed knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment legislation and requirements. Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages. Excellent oral and written communication and negotiating skills and the ability to represent the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment viewpoint both internally and externally. Effectiveness in dealing with personnel at all levels. Able to work well within a team and independently. Calm temperament. Auditing experience. Ability to work flexible working hours to support on site Project activities during varying shift patterns including night shift and weekends.
