The Middleware Specialist will provide past experience & expertise in building, configuring, automating and securing J2EE framework solutions from an infrastructure perspective.There will be responsibility for the support of Internal and External Web Based solutions and application services.They will bring technical skills in the support of solutions based on Linux/IBM WebSphere/Tivoli and alternate web platforms and associated web technologies and work closely with development teams to deliver and support operational production services. Mandatory Technical Skills
  • 3 years minimum exposure and proficiency with UNIX/Linux flavours
  • 3 years minimum past experience IBM WebSphere web solutions
  • Solid understanding of highly available WebSphere solutions incorporating Network Deployment Manager & Network Dispatcher technologies & methodologies
  • Exposure to Directory technologies
  • Solid understanding of TCP & Inter-networking
  • Exposure to enterprise solutions offering highly available, highly scalable architectures
  • IBM WebSphere v5.x/Application and Portal Server
  • IBM WebSphere Business Integration Server Foundation, Edge Server, Network Deployment Manager
  • IBM Tivoli Access Manager v5.x (WebSEAL, Tivoli Proxy Server, Policy Director and Authentication Server)
  • eTrust Directory
  • IBM HTTP Server/Apache
  • TCP/IP and Inter-networking

Major challenges of this role will be to ensure that system solutions that meet business needs are delivered on time and within agreed costs. To also ensure that delivery of systems solutions do not interfere with 'business as usual' operation of systems. Balancing th provision of high quality technical services and problem resolution within tight time frames. And Balancing outcome of research initiatives that identify 'best practice' solutions with capability to implement within agreed budgets and time frames.
