Description
Global industry leader known as a Top Employer in the Atlanta area seeks a test engineer with at least 4-5 years of experience. This is a manual testing position with some automation. Top 3 skills are Web services testing, API testing, and experience with JUnit or JMeter. This tester will be rresponsible for designing and developing test scripts using various Scripting languages.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with QA Analysts and Developers to ensure that all aspects of the system have proper testing coverage and overall system reliability, performance and quality.
- Comply with the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodology (PMLC) by participating in scope assessment, risk and cost analysis.
- Provide testing management for ongoing projects and future initiatives.
- Deliver effective and efficient testing solutions by meeting key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, and adhering to development and quality standards.
- Analyze the testing needs and develop testing strategy and plans.
- Review and approve test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures such as database impacts, software scenarios or usability.
- Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance or completeness and/or to mitigate risks.
- Ensure application documentation is complete and maintained/updated in a timely fashion.
Education/Experience
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant field.
- 4-5 years experience testing Web Services/API.
- Applied experience in facilitating business requirements documentation, creating test scripts, executing test scripts, logging defects, and performing regression analysis.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of testing disciplines and methodologies.
- Knowledge of Client Server Architecture.
- Experience with database Architecture and SQL queries.
- Familiar with monitoring network logs is a must.
- Knowledge of Java and Web Services fundamentals a must; (should be able to write small test applications as needed).
- Java and Web Services API testing experience - a must.
- Familiarity with Java Unit test frameworks (TestNG and/or JUnit) - a must.
- Java API and Web Services Test execution using Automation tools such as JMeter - a must.
- Knowledge of Unix (Solaris) systems - a must.
- Applied experience in interpreting business requirements, creating and executing test scripts, logging defects, and developing regression tests ? a must.
- Must be results oriented, self motivated, and have the ability to take ownership for QA responsibilities; time management skills a must.
- Writing and Executing Java Back End test cases a plus.
- Applied experience with use of HP Quality Center (Or some Test Management tool).
- Test coverage metrics - a plus.
