Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for a management accountant to join a busy local authority finance team on an interim basis. Our client is looking for a candidate with demonstrable local authority management accounting experience.
Candidates must be able to deliver a range of financial services as outlined below covering capital, revenue and systems.
The skills level, experience and qualification levels required are as per the skills/grade Matrix, and include:
- Budget Monitoring
- Budget Preparation
- Closure of Accounts
- Financial Appraisals
- Financial Advice and support
- Financial improvement and planning
- Financial and Statistical Returns
- Financial Systems and Procedures
- Taxation and Risk Management
Candidates will be expected to
- Deliver services to managers and senior finance officers in accordance with the agreed timescales
- Provide relevant and timely financial management and monitoring information, pro-actively supporting and training managers and finance staff to carry out their responsibilities accordingly
- Prepare annual and medium term revenue and capital budgets for an agreed group of services either in conjunction with designated budget managers and/or setting up budgets on the financial systems
- Undertake the closure of aspects of the council's accounts
- Implement and maintain systems and procedures of financial management and administration in accordance with legislation and codes of practice
- Assist in the supervision and development of finance and administrative staff within the team
- Compile grant claims and statistical and statutory returns in accordance with required deadlines, standards and best practice
- Manage specific financial functions as may from time to time be allocated
- Support the council's Section 151 Officer
