DESCRIPTIONThe Senior Engineering Technician will provide electro-mechanical engineering knowledge in support of New Product Development initiatives for bio-devices. Provide support to product development of automated electro-mechanical and pneumatic equipment. Design and oversee tests to determine product specifications, develop test protocols, troubleshoot electro-mechanical related problems, and handle assembly of prototypes and sub-systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design procedures to ensure prototypes or device components are within engineering specifications.
- Develop and maintain central document depository of accumulated test plans, procedures, results, and accumulated data that supports commercial bio-mechanical device operation and function.
- Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and pneumatic aspects of engineering prototypes and sub-systems.
- Interact with the engineering development team to develop, test, and de-bug changes to bio-mechanical devices while maintaining biological integrity.
- Performs mechanical, electrical and pneumatic assembly, test and debug components of automated prototypes.
- Identifies and recommends design changes to equipment during development and prototype stages.
- Suggests new concepts, processes, or designs to improve existing products or product concepts.
- Develops methods or suggestions to reduce product or project costs and/or accelerate project timelines.
- Function as a team member of the development group for new ideas and for bio-mechanical devices.
- Perform process validation, durability testing, and target efficacy while maintaining animal safety.
- Coordinate accurate and thorough documentation of project progress.
- Provide timely status/progress updates for projects undertaken.
- Work under minimal supervision.
- AS degree in an engineering discipline plus 10 years of experience or BS degree in an engineering discipline plus 5 years of experience.
- Demonstration of problem solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of design verification and validation.
- Knowledge of process validation.
- Demonstrated team work skills.
- PLC skills a plus
