My large public sector client has a requirement for a Senior HR Adviser and Casworker to work in Central London. This is a 3-6 month fixed term contract paying up to £35k

JOB PURPOSE
To provide professional and relevant HR advice and information on procedures and practices so that:
-My client achieves its strategic business outcomes;
-My client is recognised and accredited as a good employer;
-The managers, and the business as a whole, is properly supported and developed to meet current and future requirements.
-The HR unified model is effective, delivering pragmatic business solutions as part of a co-ordinated and consistent HR service

The HR Advisory Service provides expert advice and support to managers in all departments, to enable line managers to take on their full people management responsibilities. The team are also a source of information for staff about conditions of service and policies and procedures in the Staff Handbook.

Senior Advisers take personal responsibility for managing cases across the range of employment advisory issues and at all stages, including preparation for employment tribunals and Civil Service Appeal Board hearings. They are named advisers' for particular departments or business areas, but work on cases in other areas as needed.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Providing timely and appropriate support and advice to managers on HR issues including the conditions of service, employment law issues, disciplinary and grievance procedures, and performance and attendance management procedures.
  • Provide information about HR policies and procedures to staff as appropriate
  • Managing employee relations casework through all stages, including preparation for employment tribunals and Civil Service Appeal Board hearings
  • Develop expertise in particular areas of HR advice, as a subject expert' who can deal with more complex casework and support other HR staff to deliver best practice in this area
  • Proactively develops own business knowledge, review available data and work closely with relevant Business Partners to more effectively align HR advice services with business need
  • Works with other teams to deliver a co-ordinated and effective HR service. This may include, for example, providing HR advisory input into service area projects, change management programmes and working groups as required
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate paper and electronic records including ensuring that records are compliant with relevant legislation and records management policies
  • Help ensure the HR advisory administration systems are maintained and fit for purpose, producing management information reports and analysis as required. This includes identifying trends and working with the Head of the HR Advisory Service to monitor performance and identify improvements.
  • Participate on recruitment and selection boards as required, ensuring that these follow relevant employment law and best practice policies.

Security clearance will be part of the vetting process for this role.
