Job Description:

Functions as a hands on subject matter expert in release management. Coordinates release program activities designed to provide management, subcontractors and customers with pertinent information, such as summary data, key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics. Acts as the gatekeeper to the production environment, ensuring conformance to policies and operational processes/procedures, release integration testing and production validation.

Defines release management process objectives (including KPIs and critical success factors) and policies for cross-domain configuration integration, testing, completeness and consistency. Works closely with change managers, project managers and the change advisory board to plan releases and manage the release schedule, taking into consideration associated business and technical risks. Oversees release changes into production through controlled promotion processes or documented support procedures. Holds back the release from being deployed into production when release plans are not met, and works with the business process owner, application owner, change manager, project manager and others to identify the cause, bring appropriate resources to bear and reschedule the release.

Evaluates existing Release Management processes, procedures, infrastructure, organizational structure and resourcing against industry best practices. Provide recommendations for improvements and drives the adoption and implementation of these recommendations across the IT organization. Provides input into process solutions that reduce costs and improve efficiency. Responsible and accountable for the on time delivery of all Release Process outputs as defined in the Release Policy, processes and procedures. Able to convey Release information in a variety of communication methods such as presentations, training, meetings and knowledge sessions.

Managing the deployment of releases (may include, off-hours and weekends.) Resolve conflict and build strong working relationships with release management stakeholders. Conduct Post Release Reviews or Change/Post Implementation Reviews to identify improvements to processes and procedures over time. Act as an escalation point for issues or problems related to a particular release.
