Team Objective & Role Requirements
To create the Bank's Data Strategy & Alignment, and gain organisational traction for the vision and business operating model. In partnership with key functions align strategy and budget towards best in class industry standard Data Architecture.
Support Head of Strategy & Alignment to:-
- Build on the Bamk's Data Strategy based on i) firm Data Governance, ii) clear accountability, iii) ownership of data remediation by data owners and maintainers and iv) clear metrics for progress of DQ, Governance and alignment.
- Create a target Data Architecture, in collaboration with our IT partners - based on established principles for industry best practice: single points of data maintenance, single sources for all key shared data items, appropriate handling of vendor data, common interfaces and standardised messaging formats conforming to industry standards where possible.
- Address current issues with the Data Infrastructure - duplicated processes, multiple repositories of similar data, point-to-point data transmission, inappropriate controls giving rise to inaccurate and incomplete data etc
- In collaboration with the Data Governance function, build a shared understanding of the data infrastructure
- Work closely with members of the Data Governance team and Business Development and Performance team to deliver appropriate data for cross-Bank's Management Information
- Secure funding for bringing the target state Data Architecture into being.
- Ensure all initiative spend on business systems contributes to the creation of the target architecture for Data.
- Work with Data Owners to help them fix issues identified in the Governance and DQ Measurement programs
- Collaborate with all functional teams (ie IT Desktop Support, Market Data IT, Pricing IT, User Access Control, Trading, Trade Operations, Product Control, Procurement, Vendor Management) and other Service Managers to improve end to end service delivery for all data.
Experience & skills
The ideal candidate matches the below profile:
- Data Analysis & Strategy experience and a track record of successful delivery in a Corporate & Investment Banking environment
- Strong communication skills, able to present solutions to complex data challenges in way which influences Excom-level leaders, but also able to probe for detailed understanding from Junior Analysts.
- Self-driven, motivated, organized, goal oriented and able to take full ownership and responsibility for actions
- Broad understanding of Corporate and Investment Banking business drivers, products and practices
- Financial analysis and controls - the ability to interpret the firm's financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures
- Governance, oversight and controls - the ability to assess the effectiveness of the firm's arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
