DESCRIPTION

The Sr. SAS Programmer is accountable for developing software code and associated life cycle deliverables for PC and Mainframe applications. Perform SAS programming and analyses using large medical claims and electronic medical records databases. Participate on a team of 8 programmers, contributing expertise to other programmers as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret process, data modules, and business requirements into software code.
  • Analyze, design, develop, implement, and maintain moderate to complex computer programs and subsystems.
  • Perform all of the steps required to design, test, and code such programs.
  • Develop procedures and operating instructions, and successfully moves programs into production.
  • Provide production support through problems analysis and resolution to correct deficiencies.
  • Perform assignments under direct supervision.
  • Analyze problem or new request; design problem or new request resolution;
  • Duties include: developing program specifications; designing testing requirements; coding modules according to specifications and client standards; preparing test plan and test modules; developing program and system documentation; conducting program and system implementation; maintaining application production environment; responding and resolving production problems; and responding and resolving user inquiries.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business Administration or equivalent training or work experience. Minimum of two years as a software developer. MS or MPH in statistics/biostatistics preferred.
  • 5 years of SAS programming experience of claims and/or electronic medical record databases in the pharmaceutical industry, CRO health-related consulting company, and/or academia.
  • Must be proficient in SAS macro and SQL.
  • Familiar with SDLC methodologies.
  • Must be able to execute multi-step data management tasks and recognize technical problems and solve with minimal assistance.
