Communications Lead

My client, a high profile oil & gas company, is looking for a Communications Lead to join their team.
Reporting to the head of communications and employee engagement, the postholder will lead on a number of key communications activities, predominantly to leverage as well as support communication and employee engagement activities. The role will require building strong relationships with ambassadors, agencies and key stakeholders.

The role will be integral to the success of the programme and will require huge amounts of energy, enthusiasm, dedication and a flexible outlook. The postholder will provide the lead on a number of projects and will need the ability to work across a range of activities to deliver outcomes to tight timescales in a high-pressure, high-profile environment.

This is a one-year role, which will end in December 2012

Key accountabilities:

* Develop and deliver the communications, engagement and PR plan. This will be achieved via a variety of generated content such as blogs, webinars, interview and images and will need to be shared across multiple channels, including social media, internal, website and printed media.
* Develop an effective communication channel.
* In addition, the postholder will also be required to provide support with a range of internal communication and employee engagement activities.

Essential education:
Degree and/or relevant communications or marketing qualification

Essential experience and job requirements:
* Excellent relationship-building skills. Strong people orientation, interpersonal sensitivity, inclusive style and strong personal impact.
* An internal communications or brand/marketing communications track record, and evidence of designing and implementing communication plans using a number of different channels, with a variety of different audiences, including development of content supportive of key business priorities. Previous experience managing athletes in a sponsorship environment is particularly valuable.
* Previous project management and marketing experience, particularly with global sponsorship properties.
* Experience of working with a network of consultants and/or suppliers, dealing at account manager level or above.
* Outstanding written communication skills delivered across a range of products.
* Excellent attention to detail; well-organised.
* Passion, energy and drive, even while working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Ability to create an effective communication network and build collaborative relationships.
* Experience of managing large budgets.
* Creative thinker, good written and oral presentation skills, appreciation of design and visual communications.

* Advising senior leaders (up to Group Leader level) on effective internal communications and facilitating two-way dialogue with employees

- Enthusiastic and persistent
* Able to enthuse others and is highly tenacious, able to leverage strengths and what is working well in order to deal with challenges when the going gets tough.

- Confidence and credibility
* Establishes strong credibility with business partners; commands respect for professional excellence; takes personal accountability

- Acute cultural and political awareness
* Delivering messages effectively across multi-cultural audiences and working organisational politics at Group Leader level or above.

- Diplomacy
* Strong influencer with a flexible communication style, able to leverage a broad repertoire of styles and has strong insight into when each is appropriate.

- Judgement and commonsense
* Has the intellectual capacity and utilises analytical rigour to synthesise complexity and make practical, insightful judgements.
