Front End Web Developer
Our Client is seeking Front End Web Developer for a 6 month contract in DC. The Front End Web Developer will write standards-compliant xhtml, CSS, and unobtrusive JavaScript to build world-class web applications. The Front End Web Developer will work with designers, product managers, and Back End engineers to create enhanced user experiences through your expertise in Front End development.
Responsibilities:
- Front End development for the Community Platform brand
- Build standards-compliant cross-browser/platform compatible web pages integrating with JSP, Struts, Java layouts, PHP and Smarty Templates
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, Back End engineers and usability engineers to refine the user experience
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in general web application development, with 4+ years with Front End development
- JavaScript (including DOM, object-oriented JavaScript, Ajax, JSON, events, callbacks) and well-demonstrated XHTML/CSS
- Knowledge of jQuery
- Experienced with version control (SVN preferred)
- Solid understanding of web/usability/accessibility standards
- Web Performance Optimization - performance tuning, techniques and methodologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Experience building web sites and/or web applications
Preferred Skills (bonus if you have these):
- Experience integrating Front End code with JSP, Struts, Java layouts, PHP, Smarty Templates, ESI or related languages.
- Lead roles and hands-on experience working on large web applications, and working with offshore developers a plus.
- Knowledge of web application life cycle, MVC and other design patterns.
- Experience with Cold Fusion
- Bachelor's degree in directly related field or equivalent experience
- Experience designing modular, object-oriented JavaScript
- Experience with AJAX application model
- Experience working with Server Side components and applications
