Role
Responsible for the daily operation, monitoring and configuration activities for the storage subsystems and other components that the storage infrastructure and ensure the stability and performance of all storage components. Additional responsibilities include recommending enhancements, product evaluations and assisting with information life cycle management.
What you need to be able to do
Responsible for administering the overall enterprise storage environment, including the configuration and performance of all primary and backup storage subsystems across several data centres
Perform capacity planning tasks for storage assets
Provide documentation of storage environment
Assists with defining the overall storage architecture including the use of information life cycle management
You will have a well rounded background in the principles of storage system design and implementation
Proficiency in a broad array of technical skills including, operating systems, networking, databases, backup and recovery and disaster recovery operations
Ability to work with large complex systems
Develop design specifications, author internal documentation and participate in the review of these documents
Technologies you need to know about:
Administration of large enterprise storage environments. Responsibility for strategic deployment and use of storage assets to help meet business objectives.
Working knowledge and administrative experience with EMC Symmetrix (DMX & VMAX), EMC CLARiiON (CX3 & CX4), EMC Centera and EMC Celerra (NS) storage subsystems
Storage Area Network (SAN) configuration and administration in a Cisco MDS environment. Understanding of SAN architecture and configuration best practices
Knowledge of Backup and Recovery principles and experience with Data Domain, NetBackup and CommVault technologies
Experience with Windows Server, Server Clustering, Linux, VMware and SQL Server
EMC Proven Professional Certification is highly desired
Ability to analyse existing technologies and emerging technologies for appropriateness, fit, and functionality within the current technologies
5+ years (total) experience
4 years minimum storage experience with a strong background in EMC technologies
Solid experience with disaster recovery methods and capacity planning
Worked in a very large database environment
Education
BSc degree in EE/CS/Computer Engineering required; MS degree preferred, or relevant work experience
