Endoscopy Nurse

Description

The Postholder will: Maintain and monitor high standards of care by using a systematic approach to individualised care, by planning and delivering care around the model of nursing in the clinical area Record all care and planned care in the documented format utilised in the area Ensure all documentation is completed, legible, signed and kept relevant and up to date Maintain knowledge base of equipment used within the unit (i.e. manual handling devices, cardiac arrest equipment etc) Be responsible for maintaining safe custody, witnessing, recording and delivery of all medication to patients in accordance with the Treatment Centre's policy Attend relevant Ward and Clinical Governance meetings Be aware of the NMC Code of Conduct and work within its confines Perform duties with due regard to the Scope of Professional Practice and bewilling to extend skills for the benefit of patient care Have a good understanding of the difference between local anaesthetic and sedationand to give appropriate advice accordingly Be able to give post procedure advice i.e. sedation and non-sedation Competent in giving explanations to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures Understand the risks of sedated patients whilst undergoing and recovering from aprocedure.
