DESCRIPTION

The Patient Care Coordinator will provide inbound and outbound call support and best in class customer service to patients, physicians and physician's office staff, who utilize the department for benefit investigation and prescription procurement services. Responsible for securing patient's financials for their medications and assuring appropriate education materials are provided to the patient as requested.

Responsibilities:
  • Compound and dispense medical prescriptions.
  • Perform some clerical duties relating to the department as well as a variety of complicated tasks.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • Available to take inbound calls from patients, physicians, and other customers and make outbound calls in a professional and customer friendly manner.
  • Capture patient specific clinical and financial information in a thorough and accurate manner that assures the most effective and appropriate processing of the patient's medication.
  • Provide overview of product coverage to patient, including insurance benefit coverage, co-pay cards, and alternate forms of coverage.
Qualifications:
  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and at least five years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a call center environment, healthcare office or corporate setting, healthcare insurance provider or pharmacy is highly desirable.
  • Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician Certification required or CPHT accreditation preferred.
  • Desired familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations a plus.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Organization and problem solving skills required to handle multi faceted patient conversations and properly address patients needs.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement and healthcare billing is desired for the collections of receivables.
  • Knowledge of private payers, pharmacy benefits, medical benefits, Medicare Part D, Medicaid, alternate funding resources, and reimbursement processes a plus.
