Position Description
- Knowledge in SQL databases, Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe Dreamweaver, Drupal or similar content management systems
- Familiarity with the principles, practices and techniques involved in public health, emergency management and risk communication
- Extensive experience developing custom modules for Drupal 7 Exposure to Omniture, Google Analytics or similar web analytics solution
- Experience with eCommerce integration preferred
- Mobile website development experience highly desirable
- High-level LAMP administration experience highly desirable
- .NET Developer experience, C#, CSS, HTML, PHP, jQuery, SQL, any CMS experience in Sitefinity, Wordpress, Kentico and others Mobile experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of frameworks and best practices Strong understanding of web architecture concepts
- Web 2.0, social networking API experience highly desirable
- Working knowledge of Subversion and AJAX
Working in a fast-paced, deadline driven, coloaborative and dynamic environment, the experienced Web Designer/Developer researches and implements web technology to create and/or maintain web sites and oversees/manages the creation and development of a re-launched Department of Public Health (DPH) web site centered in preventive healthcare. In addition, the Web Designer/Developer manages and oversees all aspects of the state's existing public health web site and additional web properties and social media platforms. With unique visits topping 100,000 monthly, this role is vital in providing accurate, timely and relevant preventive healthcare information to visitors in an engaging, easy to understand, informative format.
Reporting directly to the Director, Communications, the Web Designer/Developer provides and authors codes for complex websites and applications and employs and assesses security standards. He or she works closely with principals in various Department of Public Health (DPH) programs to update content, design elements, widgets and the like on each of DPH's web properties and employs project management techniques to ensure timely completion of projects. The successful candidate will be able to manage current, live web updates as required by specific programs or units in addition to managing and overseeing the rapid development of a re-launched DPH web site complete with new taxonomy, layout, design and customer-focused content.
