My client a major financial services organisation is in the process of migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7. The organisation is engaged with a major infrastructure provided to do this, and an expert Windows 7 Architect is required to work closely with the supplier on behalf of the company, ensuring requirements are validated, and design work is confirmed/signed off.

The project is currently within the pilot phase of delivery and will be undertaking the following workstreams:
- Pilot support and close,
- replanning for deployment
- Remediation
o Core laptop build
o Office File Analysis
o Design, Requirements and Testing Documentation
o Application packaging
- Deployment

The Windows 7 architect shall provide the services of a Lead Architect resource to oversee the delivery of the platform migration to ensure best value for the organisation.

Specifically, the resource will be required to oversee and quality assure infrastructure provider's delivery including, but not limited to, the following:

technical workshops;
prototyping of competing technology options;
preparation of options papers;
pilot involvement including management of defects, decision log and wish list;
the new Windows 7 Gold Build; and
all documentation and artefacts produced.

Essential & Desirable skills
a relevant Microsoft Certification;
In depth knowledge of Windows 7, Office 2010, Back End Windows infrastructure and client devices;
proven experience of architecture and delivery of Windows 7 across complex organisations;
a high degree of tenacity and drive; and
ability to confidently present technical solutions to a mixed stakeholder community.

Technical Skills/Knowledge Required

It is essential for the identified resource to have Microsoft Certification, skills and previous experience in the following technical areas:

The resource will be responsible for delivery of the following:

Technical Design Validation Report (including supporting review records);
Weekly highlight report;
Review and input into project documentation, including:
Project Plans
RAID
PID
Requirement Documentation
Business case
