Xpanxion is working with a growing client in the Duluth, Georgia area seeking a 3-5 year SQL DBA. This client is experience rapid growth and is expecting to double revenue this year. This will be a 60-day contract to hire position.A qualified operations/production SQL Server Database Administrator with 3-5 years' experience is required to oversee and maintain the SQL Server database environment for an international software development organization.
The candidate should have Microsoft SQL Server administration experience working in a high-availability SQL Server production environment. Experience with very large databases advantageous.
They should have strong T-SQL skills, experience with all aspects of the SQL Server product suite including version 2005 Enterprise Edition, be able to configure SSIS packages, backup and restore OLAP cubes and databases, maintain SQL Server Agent jobs, configure alerts and database security, run database maintenance tasks and optimize production environments with minimal impact to business operations.
Reporting to the Operations Manager and working alongside the Performance & Scalability Team which will provide strategic direction, schema design enhancements, partitioning strategies and system and security architecture and guidance, the DBA will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and uptime of SQL Server, including Reporting Services, Integration Services and Analysis Services. They will oversee the successful operation of backup/recovery and maintenance tasks and document and report issues in the system requiring analysis by the strategic team. They will also be responsible for applying Service Packs and upgrades to systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
The successful candidate will have a passion for SQL Server and keep their skills up to date with certification and product knowledge. Working alongside server and network operations staff, they will need to be team player and have a strong sense of personal accountability.
