Location: Downtown Chicago
Terms: 6+ Month Contract
Summary:
My client is one of the top Financial Technology providers in the Industry and is Global Organization. They are seeking an Database Administrator for their downtown Chicago location. This is a 6 Month Contract with likely chance to be extended. The Database Administrator will be responsible for database creation, implementation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting for software applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates, installs and maintains database management system (DBMS) software and related software products.
- Develops mid-size project plans (ie, single system/family and multiple resources) using project management tools.
- Develops communications that persuade and influence target audience (eg, discussion documents, proposals).
- Sets up and maintains data structures and database environments to support production, performance and development activities.
- Facilitates reusability and participates in the definition of operational standards for managing information assets
- Researches current and emerging technology trends pertinent to functional area
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 3-5 year's experience with 2 or more year's experience in a database analyst or equivalent technical position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the functions, features and benefits of installed database management platforms and associated structures
- Extensive knowledge of database design methods and techniques
- Extensive knowledge of database security methods and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of applications development and support
- Extensive knowledge and skill in performance tuning
- Extensive knowledge of techniques to define logical relationships among data, processes, or events
- Considerable knowledge and expertise on strategic database platforms, structures, and migration considerations
- Considerable knowledge of emerging technologies
- Considerable knowledge of company products, services, and strategies
- Skill in the identification of performance problems and implementation of solutions to correct performance problems
- Skill in conducting tests to newly installed/upgraded software
- Skill in effectively communicating orally and in writing
- Skill in researching client needs, regulations, technologies, and data conditions
- Skill in isolating and resolving complex problems and utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools
- Works effectively with counterparts in the client organization
- Ability to estimate, plan, manage, and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan (ie, a plan that affects a single system or product family and uses multiple resources)
- Ability to analyze information and formulate conclusions and recommendations
- Ability to plan and execute a software platform change with minimal disruption in service to clients
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients and public
