A Global Investment Bank is seeking a Circuit Design Engineer for their London Office.
Job description
* Circuit design, circuit installation, inventory management and physical layer deployment for projects related to various Lines of Business (LOB), including investment bank, retail operations, TSS, etc.
* Provisioning support is required for turn-up and groom activity after-hours including circuit troubleshooting and vendor management.
* Create RFP and provide design recommendation deck for physical layer solution for peer review and management approval on medium to high scale projects Interface with various LOB's to define project requirements and circuit demands.
* Strong interaction and management of external carriers and outside vendors is required. Time management, organizational skills and communication skills are a requirement. Will have to interact with other GNS (Global Network Services) peer organizations to develop solutions to projects.
* Analysis of large scale network projects requiring complex Transport analysis. This includes circuit design, carrier recommendation, partnering with Vendor management team on negotiation, financial analysis and documentation.
* Dissect complex situations and refocuses on critical technology tasks.
Skills Required
* 3-5 years of extensive circuit design or provisioning within a large enterprise environment, preferably a Telecom IXC environment.
* Extensive experience with telecom circuit design including optical and Ethernet solutions.
* Intimate knowledge of telecom technologies including MPLS, Private Line, Local and LD Voice, Frame Relay, and SDH.
* Strong understanding of layer 1 of the OSI Model.
* Strong knowledge of carrier provisioning processes including IXC design, ASR, FOC.
* In-depth understanding of relationship between circuit and Router/pbx/cpe.
* Ability to manage Carrier Facility Assignments.
* Intermediate understanding of technology drivers and their impact on architecture design.
* Knowledge of Carrier Build Process including the Procurement of Power and Space.
* Network Optimization to include consolidation and redesign of public and private Telco facilities.
* Must have a strong technology background to understand change requests and to recommend alternate solutions. Perform all technical program tasks with minimal supervision.
* High degree of technical expertise/professional mastery to recommend process improvements. Must have strong project and coordination skills.
* Basic circuit troubleshooting skills.
* Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, Visio
