An Excellent opportunity has arisen working as a Cost Accountant for one of the biggest Financial Institutions in the country.

JOB Purpose

Process, reconcile, control and report financial data surrounding the cost base of Scottish Widows to a high quality standard allowing customers to use and rely on the data and information produced by the Department.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide within prescribed area of remit a recurring reporting service which informs the business as to its costs against budget and forecast positions.
  • Administer the process for allocating direct costs to products and channels through the Activity Based Management system, providing reporting as required.
  • Operate controls around the cost base to ensure the integrity, accuracy and completeness of the data being used and reported.
  • Interact with key customers of the department to ensure they are aware of the costs recorded, and the way in which those costs are allocated to the appropriate channels and products.
  • Deliver value to the business through providing insight and understanding of the cost base to proactively generate ways to improve cost effectiveness.
  • Apply sound financial principals to the management of costs, initiating and driving challenge, and ensuring effective use of authorised expenditure.
  • For prescribed areas within SW, ensure that the required information for the planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes is submitted accurately and in line with the published timescales
  • Self motivate and take responsibility for own personal development to achieve personal development goals whilst delivering business objectives.
  • Contribute to delivering sustainable, incremental process and performance improvement within the department
  • Complete reconciliations in line with Group Minimum Standards

  • Feedback from customer groups and achievement of agreed service standards/time scales
  • Quality, clarity and reliability of information, interpretation and guidance
  • Accuracy of information provided
  • Contribution to the development and implementation of effective systems, policies and processes
  • Quality of communication with customers and other team members
  • Accuracy of forecasts submitted
