Our client is a leading Australian Financial Services that prides itself on its LARGE technical environment and utilization of robust technical solutions to drive efficient business. They have technology teams placed all over Australia but house their IT elite in plush Sydney CBD central City offices. Due to ongoing growth and a launch of new initiatives they see additional SQL Production DBA's for a minimum of a 6 Month contract - with a very strong likelihood of extension.
The SQL environment you will be working in is one of the largest database sites in Australia and the home of numerous market leading technologies. They are working on very large database as they operate a systems that houses ALL of the Banks information systems. The SQL team is medium size (10+) and primarily focused on the day to day BAU and Production support (DBA's). This is an opportunity to join their production community working across the key MS SQL product suite. In this role you will directly contribute to the implementation of database(DB) structure and operating procedures, DB deployment, DB integrity, performance tuning and optimization.
Skills Requirements
- Extensive Large Site Experience as an Production MS SQL DBA - 5yrs+
- Knowledge of SQL's Maximum Availability Architecture framework.
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to quickly identify the cause and subsequent resolution to issues within an SQL database.
- Implement and Maintain SQL Servers with high availability and reliability
- Performing Database incident resolution
- Experience in Performance Tuning, Back Up's, Upgrades and Installations
- Strong problem solving skills and resolution of data related problems
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) is required as there is a large amount of liaising with application owners and developers.
- Proven ability to manage SQL databases using SQL Enterprise Manager
- Strong database and SQL tuning skills are desirable
- Competence with UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting and operating system is desirable.
- Strong performance orientation, high levels of tenacity, resilience, work ethic and initiative
