Our client is currently looking for a UNIX/Linux Developer to join their large Engineering team to be responsible for designing and implementing Linux infrastructure for their distributed systems. You will be involved in evaluation, certification, integration, and maintenance of various products, including hardware, Operating Systems, (Red Hat Linux and Solaris), system services (DNS, DHCP, NIS, etc.), file systems (AFS, NFS, ZFS, various cluster file systems), and a variety of in-house developed tools. Widely distributed installation of standalone Servers, high-availability clusters and grids.

Skills Required:
Strong Python or Perl programming skills, writing secure, testable, robust code. Good understanding of UNIX system fundamentals and network protocols. Ability to collaborate with others on development, including code reviews, providing specifications, implementing specifications from others, and writing documentation. The role also involves troubleshooting problems escalated from experienced system administrators.

Skills Desired:
Effective troubleshooting skills and practical experience with system programming (network/socket, IPC, threads). Knowledge of SQL and database programming. Linux/UNIX System Administrator experience (Red Hat preferred). Knowledge of 'C' - Enough experience to read source code and apply patches and fixes. Knowledge of virtualization technology. Experience with clustering/high-availability architectures. Knowledge, awareness and contributor to open source projects would be an ideal fit.
