Description
A proven knowledge and recent experience within the following areas is essential:
- Knowledge of networking, Firewall and load-balancing life cycle management and automation in a large enterprise/service provider environment
- Experience of automation and orchestration tools across networking, security and load-balanced environments supporting both virtual and physical infrastructure
- Experience of identifying opportunities for cost effective automation which drives operational efficiencies and standardisation both at enterprise and service provider level
- Knowledge of networking architecture and associated implementation including deployment methodology for all elements of the environment including connectivity, load-balancing and security
- Experience of troubleshooting as well as enhancing network performance, availability and security using both vendor and third-party tools
- Experience of interfacing with vendor firmware/OS/patch repository incorporating automated staging and testing environment for priority, security related and critical updates
- Experience of utilising tools/capabilities to meet regulatory reporting requirements both Pan-European/Global
- Knowledge of both commercial and Opensource tools and workflow applications include their integration
- Knowledge of network discovery tools and platform CMDB integration and automatic population of CI elements
- Extensive experience within design and implementation of networking infrastructure inc LAN/WAN/MAN in both datacentre and customer environments
- Configuration of Layer 2/3 networks including experience of OSPF and Spanning tree, vLan, pvLan, RIP, EIGRIP, OSPF, MPLS and BGP
- Knowledge of Cisco/Juniper datacentre switching including Nexus and 6500 series hardware
- VPN, IPSec, SSL connectivity
- Experience of deploying and supporting networking infrastructure in a Cloud environment (Private/Hybrid/Shared/Dedicated)
- Experience of networking with virtualisation technologies eg, distributed, Cisco N1000V, QinQ
- Experience of SAN/NAS networking including Cisco and Brocade fibre channel switching and iSCSI
- Knowledge of both load balancing and Firewall technologies including
o Checkpoint
o ACE
o F5 Big IP LTM/GTM
o Cisco FWSM
o ASA - Knowledge of dual factor authentication
- Knowledge of monitoring and management systems inc metrics such as Smarts, Netcool, Hobbit/Nagios (Opensource), MRTG, Sitescope, Zenoss, IPSoft
Desirable knowledge and experience:
- Experience of integrating tools and platforms with monitoring/portal capabilities to enable single pane of glass reporting
- Storage infrastructure and associated replication technologies
- Experiencing Proximity hosting
- Experience of Openflow and other Open-Source technologies
- Experience of OS/Hypervisor technologies
