Software Development Lead, London, £40,000 - £50,000 FTC

A fantastic opportunity has surfaced for a Software Development Lead to work within a large multi-national organisation, specialising in the Financial Services. This great Software Development Lead opportunity is open to a Software Development Lead that can successfully demonstrate experience in leading core aspects of transformation in software engineering and technical delivery practices and processes.

Experience required:

- Strong knowledge of Java plus at least one other language
- Knowledge of agile development practices - TDD/BDD, automated builds, continuous integration, code quality metrics, agile test frameworks etc. Experience in all or most of: ant/maven, JUnit, Mockito/Easymock, Selenium or similar, dependency injection tools and techniques, continuous integration tools (Jenkins, CruiseControl)
- Exposure to web development technologies (HTML, JavaScript, JSP, content management, caching)
- Significant exposure to platform-level development - services, APIs, large codebases: Web Services, SOAP, REST, API design, enterprise integration patterns, messaging technologies (JMS, MQ)
- Production system experience - has lived with the impact of software and system design decisions on manageability, supportability, troubleshooting. Experience with deployment, monitoring and management technologies. Examples: profiling tools, Chef/Puppet, Capistrano, JMX, Nagios etc)

Responsibilities:

- Accountable for the execution of work items agreed with business or technical stakeholders and management, supporting current business needs whilst also contributing to the transformational agenda. Be the point person, develop relationships, ensure deliveries meet and exceed expectations, introduce and showcase the benefits of lean development and delivery practices.
- Application and demonstration of current best-practice lean software engineering skills and practices. Use of these practices on all technical work undertaken, as well as through proof-of-concept work and technical 'spikes' used to validate and prove out specific approaches.
- Direct participation and contribution to the Engineering Transformation team, the group responsible for technical leadership and transformation relating to the engineering transformation within Galaxy.
- Review and adaptation of existing, and introduction of new tooling relating to all aspects of software development, as appropriate, to span both engineering team collaboration and practices. Solid and ongoing familiarity with both industry standard and emerging tooling across all relevant areas, and ability to articulate if and how it may be applicable to Galaxy.
- Define and agree software and systems architecture for work under own control, conforming to overall Galaxy and LBG standards. Review and challenge established standards when appropriate.

The successful Software Development Lead will become an Employed Consultant of Hyphen and will work onsite for our Client, a UK Financial Services Group.
