For one of our direct clients we are looking for a Sr Oracle/RAC DBA specialist

The initial role would be to assist with our present Oracle/RAC project for a large account. This role would be combined with other generic Oracle project and request work responsibilities.

In addition to the generic requirements for the position the following is needed:
- Several years of experience with Oracle/RAC, at least 3 years with Oracle 11g
- Very familiar with the UNIX platform, preferably Linux RedHat
- Strong familiarity with storage architecture like NetApps
- Good knowledge of UNIX and Oracle security

Below is a generic description for the following positions:
Oracle Senior DBA for Windows platform
Oracle Senior DBA for Linux/UNIX platform
SQLServer Senior DBA for Windows platform
Cross-platform/Cross-database technology skills are not mandatory. If available they are a clear plus.

Position description:
The Senior DBA acts as lead DBA where required in projects, performance issues and on customer request to setup complex database environments (SQL cluster, Oracle Fail-Safe, Dataguard Standby, RAC, recommend high availability solutions) This job requires a very skilful DBA with business awareness, ability to translate business requirements into database solution, has good customer, internal and vendor contacts, has excellent understanding of available services, processes and tools and strong affinity to the region which he/she is working in.

Specific Experience and Skills:
At least 7 years experience in an IT function, of which 5 years experience has been in a second line DBA support role.
In-depth knowledge of database design (logical & physical), database architecture.
In-depth knowledge of relevant Operating Systems (Unix/Linux and/or Windows) and supported database management systems (SQL/Windows, Oracle/Windows, Oracle/Unix, Oracle/Linux)
In-depth knowledge of backup & recovery tools and procedures: OEM, RMAN, TSM, Net Apps Snapshots, RAC, etc.
Experience in managing large complicated environments with various types of databases, versions, applications, customers etc.
Performance tuning skills
Knowledge of monitoring tools.
Strong skills in SQL, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting, etc. 
Application development knowledge is not an absolute requirement but considered a great advantage.

Generic DBA Experience and Skills:
Excellent technical knowledge of Oracle, SQLServer, Windows W2K/W2K3 and UNIX/Linux. Accreditations like eg Oracle Certified Professional are a clear plus.
Understanding of data management tools and techniques, eg normalisation, relational database design.
Understanding of server and storage technology, eg RAID, NAS, SAN, snapshot, especially in the area of High Availability.
Good knowledge and experience in the use of the Problem/Change and remote management tools, processes and applications.
Data gathering and analysis skills
Ability to use ITIL based global tools and processes
Able to demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills.
Self motivated individual with excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
