SQL & BI Developer-Cardiff
A blue chip organisation based in Cardiff require a SQL & BI Developer who ideally has experience of Cognos 8. The client is looking for someone with SQL Server knowledge with Development, Reporting and Analysis skills to develop, and support a Business Intelligence/Reporting Infrastructure. The suitable candidate will need to analyse, model & architect Datawarehouse solutions & data marts to meet the information needs of the client in the most efficient manner.
The role will include:-
Analysing and interpreting data for reporting purposes.
Development of SQL Server Integration packages for Data Loads and Extracts.
Support the design, modelling, implementation and management of an optimal Datawarehouse/data mart architecture and ancillary reporting databases to meet the information needs of the business
Administer and be primarily responsible for the Reporting infrastructure in Cognos BI/Reporting Services as appropriate
Act as an internal consultant using specialist knowledge, skills and experience to advise on the development and implementation of analysis, processes and business initiatives to meet business needs
Contribute to the development of the BI strategy for the client.
Continually upgrade the Business Intelligence/Reporting infrastructure in line with business needs
Assist with the development of scalable, high volume ETL jobs using TSQL and SQL Server Integration Services for use in large volume data warehouses
Using/improving a process for managing and prioritising information requests including documentation of developed reports
Actively supporting business initiatives by matching user reporting requirements to relevant reporting tools and assist in the development of required reports
Skills
SQL Server 2008 Experience inc SSIS
Expert in Data Analysis/Reporting using Excel and SQL Server
Expert in using Transact SQL
Proven experience writing SSIS packages
Experience of working in a Business Intelligence/automated Reporting env
Experience designing star schemas, metadata and drill-thru reports
Experience of working under Change Control
Cognos 8 Experience
Proven experience using Cognos 8 development tools
SQL Server Experience inc SSIS, DTS
