Description
Job Title: Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (SQL DBA)
Duration: Contract - 6 month+ (on-going for years)
Location: Atlanta, GA - Midtown
Sr. SQL Server Database Administrator Responsibilities:
- Performs general administration tasks on SQL Servers.
- Ensures backups and maintenance occur regularly and reliably
- Troubleshoots production issues on SQL server systems
- Promotes DDL changes to QA and Production
- Installs and configures SQL Server Instances
- Rotates on-call duties with other DBAs
- Provides disaster recovery support within existing infrastructure
- Oversees SQL server security
- Reviews and analyzes monitoring data to prevent problems before they happen
Requirements:
- Bachelors in Computer Science/Information Technology - or Equivalent Work Experience
- At least five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in MS SQL Server
- Strong T-SQL skills
- Experience with SSDS, SSAS, SSRS and SSIS
- Demonstrated competence in replication and clustering
- Keen problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with standard change control procedures
- Clear understanding of database design, referential integrity, and Application-Development life cycle
- Experience in supporting mission-critical database systems
Preferred skills and experience:
- Experience with Other Relational Databases (Oracle, DB2, MySQL, etc.)
- Application Development Experience (especially, VB.NET or C#)
- Demonstrated Competence in Database Mirroring
