Description
This individual will support all facets of data protection, to include backups and restoration, and disaster recovery for all client locations and businesses.
Requirements:
Configure host and NDMP (Network Data Management Protocol) backups in NetBackup Configure VMware datastore backups in SMVI (SnapManager for Virtual Infrastructure) Configure Hyper-V LUN backups in SM-HyperV Configure host backups in OSSV (Open Systems SnapVault) Configure data replication using NetApps snapmirror and snapvault utilities Monitor backups and replications and correct problems as they occur Monitor backup infrastructure health and utilization, correcting problems and optimizing performance Design, configure and maintain NetBackup Servers, tape libraries and tape drives Create and modify soft zones on tape SAN Switches Patch NetBackup Servers and clients as required Install and configure NetBackup client software on hosts Establish backup policies with schedules and retentions to meet customer requirements Restore data as requested by customers Monitor backup and restore jobs in all environments and respond to failures Respond to problems in the backup environment infrastructure Participate in actual and test disaster recovery situations within the scope of areas of responsibility for position Produce and maintain documentation of all backup/restore and disaster recovery configurations, processes and procedures
Skill set required:
Complete understanding of fiber switch zoning and configuration Ability to implement and debug fiber channel and SCSI communications Working knowledge of FCP, NFS, CIFS and TCP/IP Understanding of shared storage (both SAN and NAS) and methods of protecting data residing on storage Working knowledge level of all server version of Microsoft Windows, Sun Solaris and RedHat Linux Thorough knowledge of enterprise backup solution (Netbackup Enterprise Server preferred) Thorough understanding of server hardware and peripherals, including mirrored drives and RAID arrays Able to demonstrate superior creative, innovative and problem solving skills Able to interpret data, draw conclusions and make recommendations Able to analyze devices, designs, materials and processes Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a technical discipline Skills in written and oral communications 2-3 years experience, at least one of those years as an associate engineer
