IT Project Manager/Portfolio Manager/Stakeholder Engagement

Location: Leeds [minimum 3 days per week]

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: This is an exclusive and exciting contract opportunity for an IT Project Manager to deliver the upgrade of R12 RDBMS with a completion date of mid-June. The post holder is required immediately to work with our managed service providers and the business to manage these activities.

There is an On-call requirement for this role that would likely be on weekends when upgrade to production is performed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand business requirements and nuances of the project as they relate to relevant sectors, customers and key service offerings
  • Develop outline project approaches, detailed project plans, cost budgets and time lines that support the Sales.
  • Ensure that an assigned project is appropriately constructed with well-defined deliverables and work packages [aligned to timeframe and cost budget as set out in the bid approval process and as agreed with the customer].
  • Record and deliver customer's quality expectations of an entire project and the constituent deliverables ensuring that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and that partners, suppliers and team members all understand, are committed to and delver to those expectations.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are engaged and remain committed to assigned projects and have complete and continuing awareness of the project plan, key milestones, progress to date and plans to completion, providing regular and accurate reports on progress, issues and plans to relevant senior client and Steria management and escalating any issues as per defined Escalation Procedures.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks to the success of the project, raising awareness of risks in a timely manner to ensure cost-effective and prompt resolution of issues in strict adherence to Steria's published Risk Management methods.
  • Ensure effective client engagement and stakeholder management by actively representing the project team and Steria to the client, ensuring that relationships are built and maintained inside the client organisation and by ensuring that effective and agreed project governance processes are implemented.
  • Monitor costs, timescales, resources used and the performance of team members and suppliers taking action where these deviate from agreed levels and tolerances and ensuring that client and Steria managers are provided with status reports as agreed.

Essential Skills

  • Prince 2 practitioner
  • Background in IT Service Delivery/management of projects
  • Recent and relevant experience of project/portfolio management with a track record of delivering to required standards.
  • Experience of coordinating testing activities

Desirable Skills

  • ITIL V3
  • Experience of upgrading RDBMS on R12
