Description
System engineer
As a system engineer you work in a small team to manage the non-functional behaviour of the navigation system. The team's scope includes on device navigation Middleware, on device navigation application UI software and Server Side Back End software for navigation services and application mgt. The main focus of this position is the on-device software (Embedded C++ and Android). Over time there might be opportunities to work Server Side as well (Java/Scala).
You will work closely with the system architects who set the direction for the non-functional behaviour in the system.
Responsibilties
* Analysis of system wide performance and memory consumption bottlenecks
* Implementation of performance & memory improvements
* Development of frameworks & tools for performance & memory mgt
* Analysis of system wide non-functional behaviour (eg startup, scheduling, IPC, portability, scalability, open source libraries)
* Prototyping or kick-starting the creation of new system wide frameworks
* Increase awareness in engineering teams on performance & memory mgt techniques
Skills
* Minimum 5 years software development experience in a commercial environment
* Strong design knowledge of modern software architecture
* Solid understanding of at least one Embedded operating system
* Experience working on large product development efforts
* Strong in Embedded C++
* Experience with Java & Android
* Good written and spoken communication skills
* Ability to work & think at system level
