Works directly with customers, vendors, and Strategic Partners to identify, troubleshoot, resolve data networking related issues and/or design network solutions. Monitor LAN/WAN connectivity to ensure that all users have the required LAN/WAN connections. Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity issues as they arise in and Ethernet and Token Ring environment. This indiidual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems as required in a timely and accurate fashion. Level: 10+ Years. Skill Set: Consultant would have a Bachelor's degree in MIS/Computer Science/Math or equivalent experience. 2+ years previous experience in the IT industry. May require certification.
Top 3 - 5 Daily responsibilities
Reports directly to the Southern California Manager of Network Engineering.
Develop and present network engineering design packages.
Develop low-level design documentation.
Plan, Design, and Implement LAN, WAN, and WLAN Networks, including development of configurations.
Configure and assist with implementation of network hardware, including Routers, Switches, wireless access points, Voice gateways, etc.
Create and maintain network documentation as it relates to network topology, equipment, and configuration.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, consultants, and contractors to design and implement network solutions.
Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Make use of standard operating procedures and applications for service, change, and incident management.
Top 3 - 5 Required Skills
5-10 years experience designing, implementing and supporting Voice Over IP (VoIP) Networks, including development of configurations in a large enterprise environment.
10 + years experience designing, implementing and supporting Routers and network routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP) in a large enterprise-wide network.
