ROLE PURPOSE- UK Wide roles
Work as part of the Gas Turbine Stress Team
Complete stress tasking defined by team leader
Provide engineering input to technical reviews both internal and external
Provide support to junior members of team
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
*Responsible for completing stress tasking allocated by the team leader meeting both budget and quality requirements
*Responsible for working in accordance with company Quality Management System
*To accept responsibility for their own work and to perform such work in a methodical and tidy manner.
*To communicate perceived problems to their team leader engineer in an accurate and timely manner.
*To report achievement and progress accurately to their team lead engineer.
*To communicate with the client if and when required regarding technical or procedural matters.
*To assist in review meetings when required.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS (ESSENTIAL TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE)
Experience
Applicants should have a sound background in Aerospace Engineering with experience relevant to gas turbine stress analysis.
Ability to develop technical solutions, compliant with requirements.
Knowledge
Understanding of the behaviour and limitations of aerospace materials. Ability to understand and define system, and component, structural behaviour. Able to identify key load paths and critical features. An ability to apply appropriate modelling techniques to predict component behaviour and communicate methods and results effectively to both specialists and customers.
Qualifications
BEng Level or above (or equivalent) in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRABLE TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE)
Knowledge
As essential knowledge paragraph but specifically related to gas turbines.
Qualifications
A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or working towards professional status.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (ESSENTIAL TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE)
Able to understand and apply knowledge of:
Ultimate, Proof and Fatigue loading.
Bolted Joints and other fastening systems.
Pressure, Thermal, Gyroscopic and Acceleration (linear and rotational) loads.
Finite Element Analysis Techniques
PC Literate
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (DESIRABLE TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE)
Fracture Mechanics.
Creep, Corrosion, Fretting and Wear.
SC03, Abaqus, Patran, Nastran, MS Excel.
