Description
Our client is a super high-visibility software corporation seeking a qualified Test Engineer for an excellent contract opportunity. This is a three month position with potential for extension.
OVERVIEW:
Machine configuration
- Install driver
- Disk partitioning
- Volume creation
- Windows cluster setup
- BIOS level machine configuration-Hyper-V
- Configuring Kernel debuggers, fixing symbols and basic debugging
WTT
- Execute tests
- Schedule jobs
- Manage machine pools
- Preliminary failure investigation
- Generate test report from WTT
- Manage multiple projects
- Make changes/improvements in work flows
Scripting
- Write simple command line batch file
- Read simple VBScript/PowerShell
- Write PowerDhell scripts
- Familiarity with the Windows Release Cycle
- Write easy to understand yet comprehensive weekly reports, on-going status updates
Test Execution
- Read and understand test plan/test document
- Execute the test plan
- Open bugs in tracking system
- Track bug closure when bugs are resolved
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-3 plus years work related experience
- Knowledge of storage (SMB, DFSR, NFS, iSCSI, etc.) and file systems (NTFS, ReFS)
- VDS: disk management, disk partition, format
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, IPV4, IPV6
- Setup DC (domain controller), Sub-domain/branch cache, cross forest topologies - Lab setup knowledge
- Different Windows OS installation (server and clients, different languages, etc.) and configurations (different file server roles/feature installations)
- Familiarity and ability to install/configure components like Office, SharePoint, Rights Management Solutions
- Proven ability to code basic production test scripts required.
- Intermediate level knowledge of one or more Scripting languages (JavaScript, VBScript, Perl Script, C#, or Windows batch files).
- Proven knowledge of software testing standards, methods and conventions, and the product development cycle
- Must have demonstrated success in coordinating the test effort for one or more software projects, as well as testing software products and contributing to their quality standards
- Experience with shipping a product/product cycle strongly preferred
Hardware Knowledge
- Knowledge of computer models, CPU, memory
- Good hands-on experience of fixing genera hardware issues
- Familiarity with different models of NIC card, setup and drivers
- Knowledge of different HD, disk arrays, setup and drivers
- Experience in this client's labs and familiarity with their software lab processes
