Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of satellite systems. Their activities cover complete civil and military telecommunications and Earth observation systems, science and navigation programmes, together with avionics and a wide range of space equipment and associated ground infrastructure.

They have a new and exciting opportunity for an RF Test Engineer.

Job Profile
Perform high power Microwave testing on space and commercial hardware to a high technical standard
This includes correctly setting up of test equipment and ensuring test equipment is operated in the correct manner and within calibration.
Assist the HPT Team Leader and/or Senior Engineers to achieve the goals of the department.
Maintenance of the associated test facilities
Ensure that all of the testing is performed in a safe and controlled manner
Production of accurate test reports, ensuring test logs are completed to a high standard and all measurement data is accurately recorded, stored and filed
Working to national, international and company internal standards
Any other duties deemed appropriate by the HPT team leader
Flexible attitude to shift and weekend working with pro- active and self motivated approach.

Qualifications and/or skills
Essential - HNC/HND and typically 2 years experience in either RF or Electrical Test. Flexible working hours.
Desirable - PC skills using Microsoft office, as well as Real Time data capture an advantage. Instrumentation and calibration.

Previous experience
Essential - Must have experience in either RF or Electrical testing, including instrumentation, data reduction, setting up and running tests with minimal supervision. A good mechanical aptitude.
Desirable - Previous exposure to microwave/RF testing of aerospace equipments

Shift Work
Some shift work may be required at peak times - typically but not exclusively Monday to Friday 06:00 to 14:00 or 14:00 to 22:00 for which the appropriate rate (currently 20% uplift) would be paid. There may be occasional need for weekend work but no weekend work is currently programmed.

Most frequently used shift pattern
Shift early 06:00hrs to 14:00 hrs
Shift late 14:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs
Some weekend working Saturday or Sunday may be required at peak times.

Or occasionally there may be the need for night shift 22:00 to 06:00 hrs for which 33% uplift is currently paid

Occasionally there may be the need for 16 day cycles, 12 hour shifts working 4 days on 07:00 to 19:00, 4 days off, 4 nights on (19:00 hrs to 07:00 hrs) and 4 days off. (20% uplift is paid for hours between 06:00 and 22:00 and 33% uplift is paid for hours between 22:00 and 06:00)
