I am currently in need of a Storage architect who has had previous experience in conceptual design working at a blue print level. This individual will have a solid understanding of SAN, NAS,The candidate will be responsible for simultaneously balancing project work with operational demands. Accountable for planning, designing, implementing, and monitoring the organization's storage infrastructure according to best practices to ensure high levels of data quality and availability. Will develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent storage provisioning, availability, capacity planning, and developing data disaster recovery plans.

Provide comprehensive operational support on all NAS, SAN, and direct attached storage implementations.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • storage device configuration, installation, administration, and retirement
  • performance and health monitoring
  • troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • moving/copying/migrating data
  • backup and recovery
  • anticipating storage requirements
  • Work in collaboration with the infrastructure architecture group, engineering group and other infrastructure groups to develop, test and document engineering and operational processes and procedures for the introduction of new storage technologies as needed.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to improve storage efficiencies, data availability, and service levels.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for storage change management, availability management, backup management, incident management and process documentation. Develop and maintain testing process for current, new, and modified storage appliances and software.
  • Justify expenditures on storage solutions through business cases, return on investment, and total cost of ownership analyses.
  • Plan, develop, and validate storage strategies before releasing into production and manage projects to budget.
  • Oversee storage allocation to business units across the enterprise based on requirements and available disk space while ensuring efficient utilization of resources and planning for growth..
  • Anticipate obstacles or issues and develop plans to resolve or mitigate them proactively.
  • Knowledge and experience with standard project management processes and methodologies.
  • Must be an agent for change and comfortable suggesting and designing solutions that utilize new technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 7-years hands on storage experience with storage infrastructure support and administration responsibilities in a medium to large corporate environment
  • Working knowledge and experience with large scale enterprise storage technologies such as replication, compression, de-duplication, data tiering, and encryption methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of large scale network and direct attached storage concepts, architecture, and operations best practices.
  • Enterprise storage implementation and administration with NetApp in multi-platform environments utilizing FCP, NFS, and CIFS protocols.
  • Experienced with SAN implementations utilizing Brocade.
  • Experienced with storage virtualization and tiering with F5's ARX, Perfstat, Fabric Watch, as well as client-side tools to help diagnose performance issues
  • Working knowledge of storage system reporting applications such as NetApp's Operations Manager and/or F5's Data Manager.
  • Must have excellent leadership, team building, customer service and communications skills; and willingness to share information and experiences with team members. Strong work ethic a must.
  • General knowledge of Windows, Unix, Linux, server and client technologies required to configure or diagnose storage.
  • Familiar with VMware datastore design.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and document designs, roadmaps, strategies, and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience working with software/hardware vendors and working with and managing outside resources to provide technology solutions
