Description
My client is in need of a Cloud Architect that will design architecture to improve value, performance, reliability, and scalability as well as providing a robust disaster recovery infrastructure. You will work with data center providers, hardware and software partners, and internal technology organization to understand current state and define our future architecture and capabilities. Create strategies, methodologies, and tools to increase our capabilities and measure our progress. Work with our client's product development team to create a platform. Recommends improvements to eliminate single points of failure and ensure proper implementation through a matrixed implementation team consisting of experienced engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide senior-level strategies for technology components including operating systems, server/desktop technologies, virtualization, storage technologies, database, telephony/CTI, and network connectivity
- Develop and document reference architectures leveraging existing and emerging technology components and services. Ensure reference architecture delivers on business requirements and create cost models
- Incorporate standards and practices established by Enterprise Architecture group into reference architectures
- Will collaborate with Product Management and bring a process discipline to a 24x7x365 cloud service operation to achieve highest customer satisfaction for both internal and external customers
- Develop, lead, and measure operational excellence and continuous IT improvements. Must be well versed in ITIL, High Availability, Service Delivery, and global Matrix management
- Understands systems monitoring and tool sets, knows how and what tools to deploy to improve operational performance and efficiency
- Successfully plan and performs data center failover, high availability failover, and disaster recovery tests on a regular basis for all data centers world wide

Key Result Areas:
- Research and implement new technologies/process, including best practice, Servers, operating systems, system management, storage systems, DB system, and virtualization, cloud OS and network to drive down cost and increase efficiency, performance
- Research and recommend solutions that drive cost out of the company- embracing automation and efficiency
- Identify the risks, vulnerabilities and area of improvements and identify solutions for remediation
- Create standards and procedures for monitoring, testing, and hardware/software integration
Qualifications:
- 10-15 years of working technology experience
- 8 years of experience as technology lead for large corporation, OR 5 years of experience in Solution Architecture role
- Ability to take a highly conceptual business need and translate it into a technical structure that can be concretely implemented
- Proven ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, issues, concepts and solutions to all levels of the organization, including Executive leadership and the business
- Ability to understand business problems and translate these problems into automated and non-automated solutions
- Familiarity with technologies designed to make technology components highly available and disaster ready
- Ability to mitigate complex issues in a Professional and timely manner
- Ability to work independently while keeping Manager informed
- Citrix and other VDI technologies
- Cloud Technologies, VMware, and data center consolidation
- Multiple hardware platforms, including IBM Mainframe and iSeries, Oracle/Sun, Dell Servers, UCS, EMC storage
- SaaS product design
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field required Masters Degree in Computer Science, preferred
- Professional certifications related to TOGAF and ITIL (Preferred)
