The Senior Citrix Engineer is responsible for developing technical solutions for the virtual computing environment to address identified business needs. In this role, the Sr. Citrix Engineer is also charged with providing feedback and input on large IT projects as part of cross-departmental or project-based teams. The Sr. Citrix Engineer provides high-level analysis, input and technical ideas for computing solution automation and management technologies as well as guidance and mentoring for other Desktop Engineers. Additionally, the Sr. Citrix Engineer contributes to a secure computing environment through the enforcement of physical and virtual desktop security solutions and policies.

  • Develops and implements solutions to improve efficiency of internal and external users in all areas of the computing environment
  • Evaluates business needs and regulatory requirements to determine most efficient manner to meet the needs and ensure compliance within the scope of the personal computing environment, both physical and virtual
  • Plans and implements Workstation security policies and data protection strategies in the virtual computing environment, consistent with established global IT and Legal policies and procedures
  • Plans and maintains provisioning and life cycle methodology for virtual computing solutions, including application delivery and virtual desktops
  • Designs custom software applications, workflow or new functionality using third party software applications
  • Partners with business line experts to develop specifications and determine most efficient way to meet requirements
  • Reviews and approves technical documentation in coordination with QA code review
  • Collaborates with other IT departments to ensure all applications function properly in the virtual computing environment
  • Responsible for the architecture, design and on-going maintenance of the virtual software delivery system
  • Remains current on latest technologies and emerging trends in area of expertise and recommend ways to utilize new technologies in the environment
  • Serves as mentor and resource for other Desktop Engineering staff, providing feedback, input, training and guidance on current projects, tasks and initiatives
  • Serves as Level III resource for the IT Service Desk as needed
  • Other duties as required

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems or other equivalent field highly preferred

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience designing and/or supporting a Citrix XenDesktop and/or XenApp environment highly preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in technical support or related support function required
  • 1+ years of experience as a Desktop Engineer I or II highly preferred

Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+ Certified Professional certification preferred
  • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) credential preferred
  • Citrix Certified Administrator for XenDesktop 5 certification preferred
  • Citrix Certified Administrator for XenApp 6 certification preferred

Software:

  • Prior experience with Citrix XenDesktop and/or XenApp required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows required
  • Prior experience with Microsoft .NET development highly preferred
  • Experience with the following products and/or technologies preferred:
  • Microsoft Group Policies
  • Microsoft SQL
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Scripting tools, such as VBScript or Powershell

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills
  • Ability to clearly explain complex technical solutions to Partners and management level staff
  • Capacity to work in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple complex projects/tasks simultaneously with a focus on details
  • Capable of successfully multi-tasking while working independently or within a group environment
  • Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Capable of working well under pressure while dealing with unexpected problems in a professional manner
  • Capacity to communicate and interact with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to interact and build relationships and consensus among people
  • Solid analytical and diagnostic skills to identify issues/problems and develop recommendations for effective resolution
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of standard applications and all aspects of desktop environments
