Oracle Virtualisation Project Manager (contract)
Data Centre Consolidation Application Migration Workstream Project Manager (contract) This contract is a 6 month rolling contract paying attractive daily rates. The client is a large enterprise in the telecom Industry. Dublin City Centre Based.
Background
My client, a Multinational Telco group, are embarking on an ambitious data centre build and consolidation programme, building two new data centres and migrating from five data centres. The planned migration approach is to virtualise as many of the existing Oracle and x86 applications as possible within the new target data centres. Funding has been approved to start the virtualisation of Oracle applications and this role will assume responsibility for leading the Oracle virtualisation workstream. The Oracle infrastructure has been ordered and delivered, we are close to concluding agreement with Oracle for the design and build element and are in discussion with various suppliers for resources to lead the migration work. The role reports into the Data Centre Consolidation Programme Manager.
Responsibilities
- Create project plan, agree milestones, secure resources and manage delivery of the Oracle application migration work stream through all phases of the project life cycle.
- Agree SOW with Oracle Professional Services for Build of Oracle Consolidated Infrastructure Platform
- Agree SOW with Oracle Professional Services for Initial 5 Application Migrations to new platform and establish a "migration factory" process
- Validate budgets and migration strategy at end of initial 5 application migration
- Work with the client procurement to select a 3rd Party Vendor to partner the client and lead the migration of all remaining Oracle applications
- Manage virtualisation/consolidation and migration of all Solaris based applications to the new target platforms
- Plan and secure internal the client resources required to support the application migration
- Work with 3rd Party Vendor to agree an Oracle migration strategy and migration plan.
- Establish training requirements and any updates to current operating practices to ensure smooth handover of virtualised environments into operational support.
- Plan and deliver migration of Solaris applications including the Oracle licence review
- Project planning, status reporting, financial management, RAIDS management, etcproduced and maintained in line with good project governance and standard The client PMO practice.
- Educated to degree level
- Minimum 5 years Project Management experience
- Experience managing virtualisation projects
- Experience of leading projects in a large corporate/ITAL environment
- Experience in infrastructure delivery projects
- Experience - preferred:
- Degree in Computing Science
- Experience working in a Telco
- Experience in Oracle virtualisation
- Experience in managing resources/projects in a Matrix structure

Experience - essential
- Educated to degree level
