The Microsoft Systems Engineer is responsible for providing consulting services related to Microsoft Core Technologies and will handle a variety of roles ranging from pre-sales design & planning to post-sales assessments and implementations. The role involves pre-sales support including project definition, scoping/sizing, analysis of technical alternatives, and the presentations and/or proposal of results. The primary role will be to assess and implement core Microsoft technologies such as Exchange and Active Directory. The position will include opportunities to mentor other team members including customer personnel. This position may assist in either an individual or team environment in varying capacities including technical project leadership, depending on the needs of the project and the team.

  • Leverage both proven and innovative technology approaches to solve challenging business problems
  • Independently design, install and support complex Microsoft-specific software solutions
  • Work with customers and vendors to find cost-effective solutions that meet requirements for performance and high-availability
  • Troubleshoot operational problems by using a variety of hardware/software troubleshooting techniques
  • Evaluate and understand new Microsoft software products for possible Customer use
  • Audit, assess and recommend improvements to Customer deployed software solutions
  • Support sales efforts through sales calls, proposal writing and proposal presentation
  • Provide project status updates to sales, management, and Customer contacts
  • Over 5 years of practical experience in Microsoft Core Technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory and Exchange
  • Certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) is preferred
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with comparable work experience
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Core Technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory and Exchange
  • Experience performing Exchange 2010 migrations and Windows Server 2008R2 upgrades
  • Broad knowledge of Microsoft technologies and products, with specialization in one or more of the following: Lync, Systems Center, Forefront or Hyper-V
