Description
RF Electronics Test Engineer required for a leading defence and security company based in Farnborough to test elements of space or ground based Radio Frequency (RF) systems and design elements of an RF system for either use in a space, ground or test RF system. The engineer will be a part of the expanding Communications area of the Space UK business.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop test plans and procedures to thoroughly test Radio Frequency systems.
- Under take the testing of space and ground based RF systems.
- Testing of technical solutions in support of relevant current projects, including ExoMars.
- Support of bids for all relevant opportunities (typically from £50k to £5m+)
- Mentor junior members of the Communications team within the Space UK business.

- Understand, interpret and implement requirements and specifications.
- Deliver bespoke technical solutions to challenging customer requirements and timescales.
Essential Qualifications
- Current Security Clearance DVA
- Honours degree in a related discipline.
- Knowledge and application of state-of-art technology in RF communications systems is essential
- Expertise in the design of space communications systems would be a distinct advantage.
- Specialist domain knowledge in RF, microwave, antenna, communications and space engineering.
- Knowledge of space platform system architecture.
- Ability to work at all technical levels from systems engineering to component level design, equipment build and test.
- Ability to plan and conduct test campaigns, including specifying and procuring facilities and support equipment.
- Good knowledge of space industry best-practice.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels, both within and external to QinetiQ, including customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
