Description
Visual Web Designer with a background in retail websites needed for an exciting contract opportunity with the biggest online retailers in the industry. Candidate must have web design experience. Position is based in Seattle.
We need a highly motivated, self-directed, enthusiastic person with a sense of humor and a sharp mind who works well under pressure and can thrive in an atmosphere of rapid development. Candidate must be comfortable working within existing style guide conventions, and be willing to work collaboratively, but also have a strong individual sense of aesthetics and be able to bring tasteful, stylish, high-class ideas to the table.
Successful candidates will provide a strong portfolio, and demonstrate excellent web interface and visual design skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with senior designers as well as usability, development, and business teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, on-brand graphic solutions to build a superior customer experience.
- Produce sketches, graphics, templates, layouts, themes, typography, and visual standards for merchandising or promotion throughout the retail web process.
- Provide and manage design documentation, style guides, and specifications.
- Proactively manage time and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating visual branding, online marketing, and great user-centered design solutions
- At least one year experience in designing for high-end retail web sites
- Mastery of the principals of design, color theory, and graphics file creation optimized for the web
- Proficiency in a variety of design tools particularly Photoshop and Illustrator
- Design degree and/or 4-year college degree preferred
- Ability to prototype in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, or Flash preferred
- Illustration skills and/or Flash, JavaScript, and DHTML experience a plus.
This contract position is expected to be 5 months in duration.
