Objective/Background:
You will join the Capacity Management team at this international bank. The team ensures that the capacity of the IT infrastructure (current and future) matches the evolving demands of the bank in the most cost effective and timely manner.
The Capacity Management process covers the following areas: capacity planning, demand management, capacity operations, capacity and performance engineering, capacity management infrastructure.
Tasks:
In your role as Capacity Manager (CM) you fulfil two functions as Capacity Analyst and Capacity Planner:
1. The Capacity Analyst (CA) performs detailed analysis of a specific IT service, component or platform.
You are responsible for the base-lining (ie. define metrics and baseline; analyse deviations), thresholds alerting and workload characterization.
You perform performance testing (project) and reviews capacity and performance reports (production). When the test results/reports highlight an issue, the CA explores the issue and determines whether action is required. You provide the detailed data and recommendation needed to go forward.
You design and develop Capacity Management Infrastructure (CMI) components for the gathering, computing and reporting of indicators and trends. You assist the CMI Owner in making the CMI evolved as needed.
2. The Capacity Planner (CP) participates in technical architecture reviews and testing to determine the most-appropriate scalable model, taking into consideration performance, availability, disaster recovery and costs.
You participate in technical discussions to incorporate performance features at design, development and test stages.
You develop capacity models.
You gather business, services and platforms data as well as forecasts, and incorporate them into capacity models.
You help to establish realistic IT budgets for the IT infrastructure, and develop cost-benefit analysis and cost estimates.
You develop (part of) the performance and capacity reports (eg capacity planning).
Skills :
- expert IBM Mainframe systems (hardware, operating system, databases, Middleware and frameworks);
- knowledge of the zSeries Architecture (LPARs, Sysplex, Coupling Facility);
- experience in performance analysis on IBM Mainframe;
- familiar with the capacity management process;
- familiar with IBM Mainframe monitoring tools;
- experience in SAS programming, MICS CMI, Tape and Storage systems, HP NSK (Tandem) systems.
- Ideally you will have work experience in the Banking sector.Language: English.
