I&O Mainframe Storage System Engineer

Our client is looking for I&O Mainframe Storage System Engineer to join their large team which consists of two teams, who manage the entire centralized data storage infrastructure of the central systems.

The I&O Mainframe Storage System Engineer will need to have technical experience with:

  • 3 years professional experience in the Mainframe Storage domain (Hardware and Software)
  • Support Experience with the following products and Hardware:
  • Mainframe disks and FICON SAN directors.
  • Physical planning management for this equipment.
  • ISPF and ISMF
  • Z/OS I/O subsystem and IODF.
  • REXX, Cobol and Easytrieve programming languages
  • CA/1
  • SUN/STK HSC

Mainframe Storage management tools:

  • DFsms; DFhsm; DFdss; DFdfp; Stopx37; PPRC
  • Z-os tools and common languages (ISPF, Rexx, Control-M, JCL)

The successful consultant will be responsible for:

  • Maintain the Mainframe Disk infrastructure (Support activities like eg set-up & follow-up of the batch jobs supporting the Disk environment, capacity management)
  • Level-2 support of the Mainframe Disk environment with on call (be part of on call pool with other colleagues; shift of 24 x 7; possibility to solve remotely)
  • Participate to projects related to Storage as operational consultant and workgroup member.
  • Playing the role of Incident Solver according to the Incident Management process, in order to solve the incidents relating to this environment while establishing a diagnosis and determining the seriousness and priority and applying the measures to be taken in order to restore the service.
  • Playing the role of Change Requestor and Deployment Specialist following the Change and Deployment Management processes.
  • Validating the installation or updating procedures supplied by the colleagues of Storage Engineering and executing the requests for technical installation and the "Request for Change" application validated by the CAB (Change Advisory Board).
  • Checking the proper execution of these "RFC (Request For changes)" change requests and as per the case, implementing a standby plan.
