Our high-visibility client builds and operates social media websites with a small team, and currently has a premium contract offering for a Build/Operations Engineer who will be involved in all phases of development and operation.

Duties include:

  • Ensuring builds of various projects happen regularly, diagnosing build errors and issues
  • Managing the deployment of releases to the Azure data center, including occasional more complex steps including data migration
  • Creating new deployment configurations and subscriptions in Microsoft Windows Azure
  • Acting as first line of defense in diagnosing live site issues for various client properties
  • Driving monitorability improvements back into the engineering team
  • Defining alerts and thresholds that indicate systemic problems
  • Understanding of system capacity needs and working with engineering to define forecasts
  • Role will entail 60-70% operations of sites and 30%-40% build/deployment

Qualifications:

  • 4 plus years work related experience required
  • Knowledge of applicable Microsoft development tools, including Team Foundation Server build and source code control systems required
  • Knowledge of Windows required
  • Must have C# skills and experience
  • Experience operating systems in a cloud-hosted environment (preferably Windows Azure) may be required
  • Ability to diagnose issues with websites, skill with system logs and remote operations of Servers preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

This contract position is expected to be 6 months in duration with possibility of extension.
